Published on February 10, 2023

Welcome to the Hivebrite Onboarding Program!

The present video series (16 minutes) will take you through a full introduction into Hivebrite User Data and User Journey.

Please view these videos before the first session with your Onboarding Specialist. With the training element covered, we will be able have a more meaningful exchange about your particular use case and address and questions you might have.

Standard fields (4 mins)

Definition: Standard fields are native Hivebrite fields that already have pre-set values or specific attributes.
Questions to ask yourself:  Which standard fields do you want to use for your Hivebrite community?

Standard Fields: Experience and Education (1 min)
Definition: These special standard fields allow users to create several professional experiences (jobs) or educational certifications (degrees)
Questions to ask yourself:  Will it be valuable for your community to allow users to enter multiple employers and/or degrees? If not, might a custom field fulfil a similar purpose?

Custom Fields (2mins)
Definition: Custom Fields allow you to collect additional and customized data on your users.
Questions to ask yourself: What community specific data would you like to collect form your users or import to Hivebrite? What response format should these custom questions have?

Resources:
Knowledge Base: Create custom fields

Clusters (2mins)
Definition: All users need to be assigned to a cluster, which is a high-level segmentation of the users in your system (member categories, graduation years, professional sectors). Users can be assigned to multiple clusters.
Questions to ask yourself: What user categories are there in your community? For an in-person event, labels would you put on people's name tags in the second line right beneath their name?

Overview Table: Cluster attributes compared

Request to Join and Account Activation (7 mins)
Definition: People can join the community as external candidates and request to join your community or as internal users being invited to join. In both cases users will need to activate their user account.

Questions to ask yourself:  How will users join your community? If you allow external users, does an admin have to vet and approve the request to join? What email text would you like to send to users who have been approved or invited to join your community? What user data should they provide as part of the join-process?
